About Harlan Hills
Harlan Hills Condominiums—Inspired by Nature
Until the 1800’s, prairies and savannas covered most of Southern
Wisconsin. Cooperation between generations of people who care
and value nature created the UW Arboretum http://uwarboretum.org/about/ at
the north edge of Harlan Hills and Dawley Park to the west.
Prairies of native plants, oak savannahs, conifer forests of
northern Wisconsin, and healthy wetlands compose more than
1200 acres open to the public for recreation and education.
Leave your car in the garage, the Harlan Hills Condominium
healthy lifestyle means you may walk, bike, jog, even snow
shoe or ski from your home into nature the way it was and should
be.
Madison’s Lost World. Peace and serenity combined
with enormous convenience inspired the Lake Forest Company
to propose an aggressive development north of Harlan Hills
in the heart of the Arboretum in 1916. Nature reclaimed the
land and the remnants, foundations, roads, sidewalks, of the
failed plan are visible today in the Lost World Forest near
the Visitors Center.
In the 21st Century, Harlan Hills Condominiums could be considered
the community fulfilling the vision of 100 year old planners.
Living within nature, protecting the environment, and enjoying
supreme convenience to all of what Madison, Fitchburg, and
Dane County offers is an idea as old as the land, but the opportunity
is limited. Harlan Hills began with only 43 sites for building
homes. At the start of 2008, the number of sites remaining
is 28.
Time Has Come. A stand-alone condominium community
is not a new idea. The Harlan Hills Condominium plan is inspired
by the resort or golf-course communities of the world. Real
estate ownership where the outdoor areas are maintained year
around by the ownership association instead of the owner, suits
the person who values freedom and flexibility.
The lots offered by Nelson General Contracting allow you to
design-build a Stand-Alone home. You will have no walls shared
with another condominium. You own the home. Your yard and snow
removal is cared for by the Association.
